Leeds attack

Some nutjob with a crossbow and firearm (looks like an air rifle to me) went crazy in north Leeds yesterday and wounded two women.
It is not an Islamist attack, the man is a white British male.
What makes it a bit different is that he said what he was going to do on fb before the attack.
I think this country is going mad. Stuff like this never used to happen.

It happened just before 3 PM and about 300 yards from my son's house!

The major junction of Shaw Lane and Otley Road was shut well into the evening. Police cars and vans everywhere and the helicopter was up. The weapons were found in the grounds of Leeds Beckett University about half a mile away.

God only knows what motivates these idiots and it is a good job he did not have an automatic or semi-automatic weapon.

The worst of this seems to be the sheer randomness of these attacks. Southport, Vancouver ....
It does make you wonder what sort of slippery slope society is on at the moment.

Well let's hope it doesn't get as bad as France.
Last Thursday a girl was stabbed to death at a school in France by one of her classmates.
On Friday a young Muslim was murdered in a Mosque.
In the early hours of Sunday an off duty police officer was murdered in Paris.
In 2023 49 people were killed in drug gang violence in Marseilles.
This weekend there was a shootout in Rennes and three separate gunfights in Grenoble.

Yesterday there was a mass shooting in Sweden and there have been 67 bombing attacks in Sweden this year.

Do you hear about it?

I've read about Sweden Suff.
There ws a little bit about the shooting at the hair salon where three people were shot dead - but not very much at all.

But here's the thing. "Sweden is considering tightening it's gun laws".
As if it was a random legal gun owner.

Well it may have been, but I doubt it.
Much more likely to be gang violence.
In Sweden, if you are aged under fifteen the law says that you are too young to be prosecuted.
So gang bosses recruit schoolchildren to carry out murders. They are recruited on line.
Also Sweden has had an epidemic of bombings; hand grenades are used a lot.
They have severe problems there but i've never seen it reported on the tv news; just the odd article in papers like the Telegraph.

But when Trump said that Sweden had big problems a few years ago? Oh yes, we heard all about that on TV! With the implication that he was talking rubbish.
